現代的の製造業が直面している最大の課題は、人間の作業の可視化が出来ないことである。 何十年ものロボティクスと自動化の進歩を経ても、製造タスクの90%がいまだに人間によって実行されていることを認識すると、この問題の重要性を認識できる。ゴールドマン・サックスの調査では、製造業の全世界の雇用は3.4億人と言われている。 Industrial IoTの時代では、対応する機器からのデータと人間の作業からのデータを比較した際には、人間の作業分のデータは非常に小さく、機器から収集されるデータと比較するとほぼ皆無に等しい。 このデータの不均衡により、重大な副次的効果を2つ生じさせる。 製造業者は、容易に定量化できる(ロボット、自動化、IIoT)製造タスクの10%に過剰投資、もしくは近視眼的なコストの最適化(オフショアリング、解雇)を行う。 その結果、工場労働者は自分の将来を恐れ、経済的・文化的・政 治的な心配により、新しい技術を嫌う。 これが厳しい現実。 私はDrishtiが別の道を提供していると信じている。 しかし、未来を描写する前に、まず大量生産時代の幕開けの100年以上前に戻る必要がある。 Frederick Taylorの不滅の時間測定 1911年にFrederick Winslow Taylorは「科学的管理の原理」を発表した。産業史を学んだ誰もが知っているように、この論文は現代製造業への影響力が強く、唯一トヨタの生産方式がこれを超える影響力があると言われている。 ...

Drishtiの紹介: 自動化が進んだ世界で工場労働者の競争力を高める

製造業には2つの重大な秘密がある。 まず第一の秘密は、ロボティクスと自動化の長年の進歩に関わらず、大部分の工場での仕事はまだ人間によって実行されていることである。 スマートフォンがわかり易い例である。ご存知の通り、携帯電話を持っている約50億もの人とのデジタルな接点である。同時に、驚くほど大きな数の人々との物理的な接点も持っている。ただ、中国の工場でそのスマートフォンを作ってくれた約100人近くの人々がいることはあまり知られていない。 ボストン・コンサルティング・グループによると、工場作業のわずか10%程度しかロボットが行っていないという。これはスマートフォンの組み立ても例外ではなく、メーカーで多少の違いがあるにせよ、人間対ロボットの比率は少なくとも50対1である。 世界の製造業の市場規模は12兆ドルに登ると言われるが、その90%を占めているのは人間であるのにも関わらず、活動を測る技術は、Henry Fordの時代から実質的には変わっていない。これらの技術は手動で時間を要するものがほとんどで、ビジネスの拡大時に成り立たないことが多い。 そして、製造業のもうひとつの大きな秘密は、100年もの間、人間行う作業は科学的な分析が行われて来なかった点である。 測定することが出来なければ、それを改善することはできない。製造業が人間の生産性が限界に達したと思うなら、オフシェアや自動化に目を向けるのは不思議ではない。 そして製造業の3つめの大きな秘密であるDrishtiを本日はご紹介したい。 Industry 4.0の最大の盲点を明らかにする 私は過去2年の間、黙々と新しい会社のベースを築いてきた。当初の仮説から始まり、SRI Internationalの客員起業制度を用いて具現化を試み、会社の共同設立者のKrishnendu ChaudhuryとAshish Guptaと合流し、Drishtiを設立。その後も順調に成長し、素晴らしいチーム、顧客と投資家を得るところまで来た。 本日、既存投資家の Andreessen Horowitz と Benhamou Global...
