Observations made while walking the entire line are still the best way to understand manual process performance. That’s why we’re extending the Gemba grid view feature to our current search screens.
Seeing the entire line is important when issues are uncovered. Problems at any station are rarely isolated from what is going on at the stations upstream. You can use the grid view to not only uncover what happened prior to any long cycle or anomaly, but you can also see how downstream stations were impacted. Grid search is perfect for investigating moving line stops and cycles where operators are waiting.
The grid view of a station search defaults to show you video of that station alongside the station just upstream and downstream of it. You can then add other station screens and arrange them via the station dropdown. If an overhead camera is installed for the line, that camera’s stream will show up as the first screen in the grid.
Once you have all of the stations you’d like to view for the search, you can continue to observe cycles, tagged videos and serialized products using the playlist on the right side of the screen. The video grid view will update for all stations and show you what happened on the line during the time periods returned by your search.
