Internships have opened doors of opportunity for recent graduates around the world for years, providing a way for them to gain much-needed real-world experience, and for industry leaders to evaluate and hire dedicated workers. Drishti does end-to-end model creation and deployment. We don’t just have a data science team that does the math. This will give you hands-on experience with model creation, validation and deployment — something not every company can offer. Also, since the model you are working on is likely to be deployed during your tenure, the experience and process of working on it will be a lot more fulfilling than if you were building something years away from commercialization. Drishti’s interns interact closely with product and engineering teams. Not every company gives interns this type of access, but Drishti wants you to have the opportunity for real learning and professional growth rather than just grunt work.
We want you to go deep, not wide. Our products have real technical depth. We want you to help us tackle hard problems. We want you to be challenged. Think about whether you would be proud to show something off to your engineering friends. Would they be impressed? Five tips to help make the most of your internship at Drishti
If you are selected for an internship with us, here are some tips to make the most of the experience:
Be proactive
Show us what you can do to be a valuable asset to the organization. While doing your tasks, think about how the process could be improved. If you have big ideas, don't be afraid to share them with your coworkers or superiors. Ask questions or volunteer to help. This shows initiative and will often lead to opportunities that would not have been available otherwise. We’ll let you know if something is out of bounds.
Reach out to our people (network)
Learn about the Drishti family. While you’re here, go beyond your immediate group: Ask other people on your team what they like about working at the company, what they think are some challenges and how they see things evolving in the future. Connect with other groups within the company — marketing, customer success, sales or anyone else who might be able to help provide context into things that will affect your team's focus.
Get more practical exposure
To get a good idea of how things actually work, take advantage of opportunities when possible. Ask your manager (or team) if there are any projects that they think might be good for you to work on. Doing so will help you get more practical exposure and you will develop intuition about not only tools and applications, but also the “why” behind the choices made.
Gain broader experience
It's natural to want to get specific, technical experience while you're an intern. However, at this stage in your career, it's probably more important to have a broad range of experience. You will become more flexible and adaptable in your career as a result, because you'll be more comfortable working with a variety of tools and processes. You may even dive into an area you hadn’t previously explored, giving insight into your interests. To build this flexibility, make sure that at least half of your work focuses on process and technology. Also, because gaining specific skills takes time and practice, try to gain exposure to as many technologies as possible.
