Working with the brilliant team at Drishti is a thrill for many reasons — the collective intelligence of the crew is inspiring every day. But sometimes it’s nice to spend time with each other in a non-work setting: to let our metaphoric hair down and have some fun. Though the pandemic has made collecting in one place a challenge, in early December of 2021 we were able to assemble for a Drishti fun night. Some members formed teams and played Just a Minute games at the office, while others talked about their jobs and career aspirations, while many participated in quiz programs online.
The highlight of the evening came when the Minute Games crew held a sit-up challenge. While most completed about 35 sit-ups in a minute, the health-focused (or shall I say, the bewitched!) made an easy 60 to 65 sit-ups a minute. This feats of strength competition was followed by a competition to list as many Bengaluru tourist locales in one minute, which prompted a passionate discussion on whether Majestic (the central bus station and the market in Bengaluru) should be on that list. The teams, while munching on yummy samosas and jaleebies (thanks to our office admin team), discussed what was more important to them – jobs or careers.
Meanwhile, the online quiz program had one question that mesmerized everyone: Former UN Secretary General Boutros Boutros-Ghali has seen this film. It was also screened at Rashtrapati Bhawan at the request of former President Shankar Dayal Sharma. Indian artist M.F. Hussain claims to have seen it 27 times. Which film are we talking about? Scroll to the bottom of this blog for the answer.
Most other questions related to science, books and sports were easily handled by the Drishti team. The one moment that definitely saw pin drop silence was the tie-breaker for the quiz program, where the two finalists Ishan and Devashish were neck-and-neck. Ishan triumphed over Devasish by answering this stumper (answer below): In which movie would you meet these 7 children: Lisel, Louisa, Frederic, Kurt, Nikita, Bertha, and Gretel?
In pandemic times, it’s important for companies to find ways to build camaraderie and grow their relationships with other team members, identifying common interests. We look forward to more Drishti fun nights in the future.
Answers to the trivia questions:
The movie viewed by Boutros Boutros-Ghali was HUM AAPKE HAIN KAUN.
The answer that brought Ishan victory was The Sound of Music.
